Special Medical Needs
If your child has any allergies, illnesses, or other issues (including medications they are taking at home) that either Baldy View staff, teachers, or emergency medical professionals would need to know on a daily basis or in the event of an emergency, it is the parents' responsibility to tell the school prior to your child's attendance.
Non-Routine Medical Care at School
If your child requires medical care at school, you will need to provide the school with a written health care plan from your child's doctor. The school cannot administer prescription medications of any kind, or provide non-routine medical care without these written instructions.
If your child requires a health plan or 504 Plan, these must be submitted in writing prior to your child's start date. If you have any questions about medical care or procedures at school, please contact the district nurse.
PREVENTING THE FLU
Here are a few things you can do to help prevent the spread of flu:
- Teach your children to wash their hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub. You can set a good example by doing this yourself.
- Teach your children not to share personal items like drinks, food, or unwashed utensils.
- Teach your children to cover their coughs and sneezes with tissues, or using the elbow, arm, or sleeve instead of the hand when a tissue is not available.
- Know the signs and symptoms of the flu. Symptoms of the flu include fever (100 degrees Farenheight, 37.8 degrees Celsius or greater), cough, sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headaches, and feeling very tired. Keeping children with a fever at home will reduce the number of people who may get infected.
- Do not send children to school if they are sick. Any children who are determined to be sick while at school will be sent home.
For more information, visit www.flu.gov, or call 1-800-CDC-INFO for the most current information about the flu. You can also find more information about the flu in California at www.cdph.ca.govor call San Bernardino County Department of Public Health at 1-800-782-4264

Please see the Medical Assistance Form on the home page under "Parent Resources".
ATTENDANCE, SICK AND TARDY POLICIES
Attendance is very important to us here at Baldy View. To avoid receiving attendance letters remember that, for the entire school year
- Tardies need to remain under four (4) ;and
- Absences should remain under ten (10) .
Children are expected to be in school unless they are ill. Please call your child’s school office to report an absence. If this is not possible, a note indicating the reason for the absence is required when your child returns to school.
Appointments: Doctor and dental appointments are the only excused absences. We appreciate your efforts in having your child attend school any portion of a day when full attendance is not possible. A telephone answering machine is available 24 hours a day to report absences.
